Today I will be discussing the final part of my portfolio project, as although we aren't finished editing its a good idea to start looking over at what we should be doing for this. The CCR is a set of 4 questions which I will be answering with 2 videos. For the first 2 questions I think I'm going to do an interview. This will allow me to set up questions so I can answer the questions I need while being able to have the tone I want. The first question I will answer is: How does your product use of challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues.
Normally, in crime based movies there is a clearly "bad guy", where the plot is man vs man, however we challenge this by making both of out characters criminals, where one is a victim of a kidnapping, this is where usually there is an expectation that the "protagonist is the victim", however we challenge this by showing how this victim was the killer of the kidnappers best friend. This instead of starting off as a typical "crime movie", starts off with the protagonist with the upper hand, as he clearly has the antagonist under control. Our flashback scene highlights this, and prop scene highlight this with the memories of seeing 2 best friends, and an explanation for why what was done was done. Furthermore, social groups, The social groups we represented were criminals, we clearly establish this with lighting, clothing, dialogue, etc.... These elements were able to clearly portray criminals who valued friend ship, which brings audiences to see what best friends mean.
