Portfolio project week (2/23-3/1)

 Editing is an important part of our project, so me and my partner Oliver want to edit well, so today I was researching how to make edit a good flashback scene. This is a pretty important part of our project, and when done well can really stick out, however when done bad it also sticks out, just in a bad way. Previously we discussed using davinci resolve, and clip champ from office 365, but we may make change davinci resolve to adobe premiere, based on how hard it is to edit, due to the fact learning adobe premier is much simpler.

Firstly the coloring, flashbacks are meant to be apparent, and it has been previously set in media culture by big movie and video producers, that flashbacks look on some sort of gray scale or darker color, so we can do this by going to the effect panel and we can choose black and white, which both symbolizes a flashback and it fits the moment. Next,  Audio by going typing in studio in the effects panel you can choose something called a studio reverb which movies have been using for a very long time, so it is engrained into peoples minds that this makes a flash back scene. You have to do it right though, so once your in studio reverb you choose buckle reverb and large. When doing this it lowers the total audio of the clips, so in order to fix this you go to audio gain and up it to 5. Then you can paste that effect onto the clip. Then your done! of course you can do it a different way but this is a simple yet efficient way to make edit a good flashback scene.

portfolio project week (2/23-2/1)

 Production

Me and Oliver have been working on our portfolio project for the past few weeks and, recently we have filmed our actual project. Looking over it, we decided it would be a good idea to add a flashback, as it both adds depth to the story, and adds time which we crucially need to hit that 2 minute marker. We made the flash back about the dead friend as it fits perfectly into our last few scenes. (im posting a blooper)

I recorded the flashback, so it reminds Oliver of him remembering us having fun and being friends. This way his character realizes my cause, and why what he did was going to get him into serious trouble. We were able to enforce that me and the dead friend were close through a variety of games, which signified we were friends, and we ended it off with a handshake, making everything perfectly clear, if it already wasn't.

Portfolio project (2/23-3/1)

 Editing, editing is soon to be the next step in me and my partner Oliver's portfolio project. It is also one of if not the most important aspect of the project, as good and bad editing, can completely change how good the film opening is. It is also true however that there are multiple parts to editing, where today I will be focusing on audio. For our project, we are able to use for the audio dialogue, foley, and copyright free tracks and music, and voice overs. 

We already have our dialogue done, and we are not currently planning to use foley, and we are also not having issues with voice overs. So it leads to the copyright free tracks, and music. I previously discussed how I will be using a rope track, which is sounds of something being tied up. This is still true, but I also wanted to use somber music for the flash back scene, the sound from a phone dinging which is in one of our first scenes when Oliver is opening is phone. I wanted to add suspenseful music. Currently we believe this is a good basis, for what audio me and Oliver will be implementing into our film. However, changes may be made based on what we believe the needs of our project are.

portfolio project week (2/23-3/1)

One of my classmates is making a film opening named, Troublemakers, are bad musicians. The keyboardists are actually good but are held back. The front men, hate them. The drummers are lazy, and the end is like an evil whiplash. My classmate’s group recorded a wide shot of frontmen where they mess up, where crowd thinks there bad and A lot of trash is being thrown at the front men. The Bassist, and frontmen were hurt. A Big guy recognizes front men and hits front man. This happened because the front man stole all the materials, the group recorded a tight close of the injuries. Then, there is a shot where all musicians are behind the frontmen. The lazy drummer is not motivated. The bassist is also friends with the keyboardist, indicated by the bassist holding the keyboardist’s board. For their CCR, their planning to do a podcast with an animated character and the one of the group members.  blog url: superdupercoolblogbymemacaroni@.blogspot.com 

 

My other classmate Luciana made a love film opening where a guy hits, girl, whre the first scene is a flashback of them having  a good time, where there is a cut to the girl onto a computer. For the CCR she wants to do an interview and a voiceover of a PowerPoint. She doesn't plan to use dialogue, but she plans to use various types of music. Blog: ana224bb.blogspot.com 

 

 

 

My classmate Felipe and his group are making a Comedy/ action based film opening, where the first scene is of a “drug dealer for car parts”, he gives the main character a part, where then. there is a cut to fixing the car, then a  friend jay calls, about fixing car. Polly is another character, pulls into a lot, he shows jake some modifications. Where after they get ready to race, Polly stalls his car. Starts cussing “sh*t” sh*t” happens. Which he made is the title of “shift happens”. For Felipe and his group’s CCR, they plan to do a voice over an interview.  Blog: Lipecouto.blogspot.com 

 

  

My other classmate Raina is making her opening on a story about, how a girl is consumed about boyfriend’s death, it takes a big toll on her and she leaves school. She has to face the real world. Raina wanted to make her opening about mental health, as she planned for the boyfriend to kill himself. She came up with the title “Is He Breathing”. It starts with a sequence of having a dreamlike artificial feeling and a very lush and outdoorsy mood. For her CCR she is doing an interview with dad, since there is a juxtaposition to sadness to comedy. She also is doing a voice over to a PowerPoint. Blog: Raistellar.blogspot.com 

 

 

Camilla is also making a love story, which turns into a phycological film where she wants to make it with warm colors and a positive comfortable tone. Her characters get into a car crash, and the girlfriend in the passenger seat dies. It was not their fault for the accident, but the boyfriend feels consumed by it. He wants to take revenge on the person who crashes into them. Camilla is making her CCR related to opening. Blog: kmediadiary.blogspot.com 

portfolio project week (2/16-2/22)

 Today me and my partner Oliver Romero finally got to filming our portfolio project. We filmed at a parking lot in town center, in Weston, Florida. Me and Oliver were the actors while my dad Ramesh Alluri was the person filming. If everything feels right we will start editing. If we feel like we are missing something or we should redo, we will redo it early this week,.. (I'm posting a blooper)

I believe filming was a success, and if we had a few failures again it will be fixed by the weekend. So the future of this project, we have about 3 weeks left to complete this, and right now we will be trying to edit this well but fast, so we want to finish it by this weekend if not early next week. Then we will finish our ccr and if everything goes to plan, we will have time to spear.

portfolio project week (2/16-2/22)

Me and Oliver Romero are filming our project tommorrow. However in order to prepare for that, we need to get our materials in order and have everything prepared so none of our scenes and therefore our video get messed up. So currently we have a finished script our story boards which we have previously shown. So we needed to plan our time schedule and get our props bought, or set up. So we are planning to film tommorrow evening, so we get our dark scenes, in the dark.

 For our project the image above was the only thing we needed to set up, I organized it so we have the evidence and suspects color coded, along with string attached, while I had the general consensus of the best friends death in the green and white pinned areas. This goes along with the scene showing why our kidnapper is kidnapping, along with crucial background information to keep our audience informed. This was an important, and probably a lengthy part of our 2 minutes, so we made sure the details were provided well, along with the message. That we are kidnapping Oliver due to the death of the kidnappers best friend.

Portfolio project week (2/16-2/22)

 In the process of making a film, me and Oliver Romero have had to make a logo for our opening. So we made our logo conveying what kind of action we produce, hence the mask and also how we dig deep. So we put the mask into the floor. What we mean by digging deep is we put a lot of effort into making our storyboard good, making details count, as we believe this is one of the if not the most important part of making an opening. The name of our logo was just our names put together, Oliver and Srikara as we are the producers of this. 

Font, this is a crucial part of our film, as not only does it play a part in our logo, but we will also need it for our credits. So our font has to represent meaning. We chose Anton for our font as our production creates urgency, and this font pushes it through its bold and condensed lettering. It also is precise, something crucial in a kidnapping based opening. Films like John wick, a film we are inspired by, chose similar fonts, to convey the same messages of control and precision.

Portfolio project week (2/16-2/22)

 Editing is an essential part of the portfolio project, and there are a variety of soft wares we can use to edit me and Oliver romero's project. We will be using the a free software provided by our county called clip champ, and we will also be using DaVinchi. We are using these 2 platforms due to experience, and convenience. For our project we will need to import, audios video footage, and add things like effects, and using these  two platforms we are able to achieve these nessescities.

We are using clip champ, as we have already previously used clip champ's for various class projects, and it was able to achieve the goals we needed it to, for example adding text, importing video, and sounds etc... We are also using DaVinci as my partner Oliver Romero has previously used this platform, and was able to  perform quality special effects, and being able to import video;  it does not hurt to use 2 different platforms. The main difference between clip champ and DaVinci for us is that clip champ is easier to use, but DaVinci, is more professional. What I mean by being more professional is DaVinci has things like industry leading color grading, which is especially useful, in our scene where the kidnappie gets tied up. It seems like he is done for so using special coloring highlights this.
